Canadian Tamil Congress.

About us.

This year, the Tamil Canadian Walk is dedicated to securing the vital transition window for 30 displaced families and individuals from Trincomalee who are voluntarily returning home from India. The initiative steps in the exact moment they land, bridging the critical gap between arrival and long-term self-sufficiency as they resettle on the very ancestral lands they owned before leaving for India. Funding provides immediate, temporary stabilization, including secure interim housing, dry rations, and basic daily essentials to ensure a dignified homecoming. Recognizing that stability requires continuity, the program delivers immediate educational transition support for families with children, while simultaneously guiding adults toward sustainable income opportunities to restore their financial independence. This focused initiative delivers the precise, temporary framework returning families need to adapt, rebuild, and safely thrive once again on their own soil.
